WE ARE ALL SINNERS

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
—Romans 3:23

What is sin? The word sin in the Bible actually means to miss the mark. In other words, God is perfect and we are not. “There is none righteous, no, not one.” —Romans 3:10

Everyone is born with a tendency to sin. Everyone has the freedom to make choices and we have all chosen sin. Our sin has separated us from God. “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you…” —Isaiah 59:2

God is holy and just and He will punish sin. The Bible says that because we have sinned, we have earned death. We will die and be eternally separated from God.

“They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.” —2 Thessalonians 1:9

THE PENALTY FOR SIN IS DEATH

“For the wages of sin is death.”
—Romans 6:23

CHRIST DIED FOR YOU

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Chirst died for us.”
—Romans 5:8

Because God loves us and does not want us to die, He did what we could not do. He made a way for us to know Him and be saved from death. Christ came into the world and took the penalty for sin. He placed it upon Himself and died in your place. The third day, He rose from the dead to prove His claims to be God were true and that sin, death and the devil had been conquered.

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” —1 Peter 3:18

The word grace means undeserved favor. Saved means to be rescued from the penalty of sin. The word faith means trust. Putting your faith in Christ means trusting him to save you—not trusting your church membership, good life or baptism to get you to heaven but trusting Christ alone. Your trust has to be in the One who died for you and arose. It is then that God gives you heaven as a free gift.

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” —John 14:6

YOU CAN BE SAVED THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
—Ephesians 2:8–9

HOW YOU CAN RECEIVE JESUS

  • Admit your need. You are a sinner. You are guilty of breaking God’s law and deserve His punishment which is death.
  • Believe that Jesus death on the cross was in place of your debt, and that he rose again as He said in victory over death.
  • Confess your guilt and ask for forgiveness. There is now way for you to pay your debt.  Only Christ’s death can atone for your sin. He freely gives it to all who seek it.  There is no secret words or special prayer, just a sincere desire. Speak in prayer to Him and he will hear.
  • Repent of your sins. Don’t play the hypocrite, devote yourself to live in obedience to His commands. Jesus said those who love Him, obey Him.  Doesn’t mean anyone is perfect, but we strive to live in His will.

Will you repent, surrender to Jesus and receive Him now as your Lord and Saviour? Why not tell Him right now?
